Speculation about Taylor Swift's love-life is attracting more media attention than her performances at the moment. A private person, she has refused to confirm who she is dating. What is known, as the press always sniff these things out, is that "Brokeback Mountain" star Jake Gyllenhaal spent $150,000 on a trip to London just to see the American Country pop singer/songwriter. He flew over in his private jet to see her on Friday November 12th 2010 and the couple spent the weekend at the Dorchester Hotel. Since her short-lived romance with Taylor Lautner which ended with screaming matches in December 2009, Swift and Gyllenhaal have been on several dates this year. They have been apple picking and spent Halloween together. Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13th 1989, and celebrates her 21st birthday this year. She has always been a determined young lady, and at the age of 11-years-old she made her first trip to Nashville hoping to obtain a record deal. She distributed a demo tape of her singing with the karaoke to every label in town, but she was rejected. When she returned to Pennsylvania she was asked to sing the National Anthem at the US Open Tennis Championships. She started writing songs and playing a 12-string guitar when she was 12-years-old, making several trips to Nashville. Tired of travelling with their daughter, the family moved to a suburb of the Tennessee town when Swift was 14 years-old. She turned down an offer from RCA Records because the company wanted her on an artist development deal, but after performing at Nashville's songwriter's venue, "The Blue Bird Cafe," Scott Borchetta signed her up to his newly-formed label, Big Machine Records. At the age of 14 she was the youngest staff songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Tree Publishing House. In 2006 she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", then her debut album "Taylor Swift," which was officially certified Multi-Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. She was nominated for the Best New Artist Award at the 50th Grammy Awards. Merchandise of Taylor Swift soon became popular all over the United States. Jakks Pacific released a celebrity doll in her image in 2008 and she is the face of LEI Jeans. The items became so popular that numerous unlicensed traders would turn up at her concerts, selling unauthorised merchandise bearing her name, likeness and trademarks. In May 2009 she filed a lawsuit against the sellers, and Nashville United States District Council granted an Injunction against them, and the court ordered all the merchandise should be seized from the defendants and subsequently destroyed. In 2007 Swift helped to launch a campaign to protect children from on-line predators. She teamed up with Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to combat internet sex crimes. This year-long campaign, in association with the Tennessee Chiefs of Police, distributed internet safety information and material to parents and students across the State. She also donates money and goods to various American charities. She recently moved into her first home and she loves doing chores.
