Jessica Ann Simpson was born on July 10th 1980 in Abilene Texas. She has a younger sister Ashlee Simpson who is also rising to fame. Jessica began singing at the age of twelve in her Baptist church choir. Around this time she made it through to the final stages for The New Mickey Mouse Club. However, just losing out to up and coming singer’s stars like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.
After Jessica Simpson failed to make the Mickey Mouse Club she was helped into making the move to tour on the road. Working with the Christian Youth Concert circuit, Jessica sang her own songs from her album and selling it after her performances. This was very successful and helped Jessica to gain experience in performing live to audiences.
Word spread about Jessica Simpson and her great singing talent and skills and this meant her records were selling like gold dust. Pop and Christian music fans both enjoyed her sound and she charmed them with her crystal clear singing voice. With this increased popularity it encouraged Jessica on further. She was first discovered when singing at a church camp by the head of a small contemporary Christian record label, which then went on to produce and record an album. Unfortunately for Jessica the label went under before the record could be released. Columbia Records picked up a copy of the album and believed she had very strong potential to succeed as a pop star.
Simpson released her first album Sweet Kisses in 1999. This first release hit the U.S. Billboard two hundred charts, peaking at twenty five and going on into the top forty of the UK charts. The debut album was hot property going platinum and selling two million copies in the U.S. The first single I Wanna Love You Forever reached the top five in the U.S. Billboard Hot one hundred and top ten in the UK.
The follow up single, included a duet with then boyfriend Nick Lachey of boy band 98 Degrees, including the last single from the album, I Think I'm in Love with You. 2000 was very memorable year for Jessica Simpson as she won two Teen Choice Awards for Choice Breakout Artist and Love Song of the Year Where You Are.

Jessica Simpson returned with her second album in June 2001 titled Irresistible and reached the top ten of the Billboard two hundred and made top twenty in the Canadian album music chart. This album sold more than her debut album and has been certified gold in the U.S. for selling over five hundred thousand copies. The title track Irresistible, reached the top twenty in the U.S. The follow up to the lead single was named A Little Bit and unfortunately failed to impress.
