Jessica Alba Biography
Born in Pomona, California in 28th April 1981, Jessica moved around a lot as a child due to her father's career in the United States Air Force, but they finally settled in Southern California when she was 9-years-old.
She was a sickly child and spent a lot of time in hospital. She suffered from collapsed lungs twice, had pneumonia 4 or 5 times a year and also had a ruptured appendix and a tonsular cyst.
She had a lonely childhood as she was never at school long enough to make friends. She knew from the age of 5 she wanted to be an actress, but she was 12-years-old before she started going to acting classes
Nine months later she was signed up by an agent, and she made her film debut at the age of 13 in the comedy "Camp Nowhere" which was released in 1994. She was originally hired for two weeks, but when one of the principal actresses dropped out she was cast in that role and worked on the film for two months.
Two television commercials and several independent films followed, and she went into television in 1994, playing an ongoing role in "The Secret World of Alex Mack." The following year she was cast as Maya in the pilot for the series "Flipper."
The pilot was so successful it was made into a series and Jessica went to Australia to film it. An avid swimmer and a PADI certified scuba diver she was delighted to be working on a show that allowed her to swim with dolphins.
She went on to work on the second series and was with the series until 1997. A number of television shows and films followed.
Jessica gets a lot of media attention for her looks, and she frequently appears in the Hot 100 section of Maxim. She was number 1 on the askmen.com list of the 99 most desirable women in 2006, as well as being voted the Sexiest Woman in the World by FHM in 2007.
In 2006 she sued Playboy Magazine for using a promotional shot of her in "Into the Blue" on the cover without her permission, but she later dropped the lawsuit after she received a personal apology from Hugh Hefner. He also agreed to donate money to two of her charities.
She has won several awards for her acting including the Teen Choice Award and the Saturn Award for Best Actress on TV. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her lead role in the television series "Dark Angel."
It was while she was working on "Dark Angel" she caused controversy by starting a three-year relationship with her co-star Michael Weatherley. She was 19 and he was 31. On her 20th birthday he proposed and she accepted, but two years later they broke off the engagement.
In 2004 she met Cash Warren on the set of "Fantastic Four" and they announced their engagement on December 27th 2007. She married him on May 19th 2008 and on June 7th she gave birth to their daughter Honor Marie Warren. The first pictures of Honor Marie appeared in OK Magazine for which the couple were supposedly paid $1.5 million.
Jessica is involved with several charities, and together with Bono she is Ambassador for the Goal Movement to provide education for children in Africa.
