She was able to come across as smart and funny, but not over confident or intimidating. Because of the success of the series a spin-off film was made in 2003 self-titled The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Hilary Duff also starred in the Disney network television film in 2002 titled Cadet Kelly. This was also hugely successful as it became the networks most watched television program in its nineteen-year history.

2004, Duff played the female lead role in the romantic comedy A Cinderella Story, a modern day update of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. Critics were said to be impressed by Hilary Duff 's performance, as well as her chemistry with co-star Chad Michael Murray.

The album debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200, selling 1.3 million copies in the U.S. by March 2006.
