Savannah Outen Biography
Savannah Outen is a quirky 18-year-old singer/songwriter who knows what she wants in life and no-one is going to stop her.
She is full of superstitions that she has had since childhood, she believes 13 is her lucky number and when she sleeps she has to have the hair over her ears to stop the boogieman whispering in her ears.
When she pulls a straw out of the paper wrapping she has to blow in it to make sure there is nothing inside before putting it in her cup.
She has an obsession with the Eiffel Tower in Paris and her record player and her ambition is to play a part called Minnie (which she invented) in the television series "The Office".
Born on 14th October 1992 in Hillsboro, Oregon, she gained popularity on You Tube. The first video she posted on the website was a cover of Beyonce's "Listen" from the film "Dreamgirls".
Between 2002 and 2006 she was a member of the Junior Blazer Dances dance group and she was also on a competitive rope team called "The Red Hots".
She has been asked to sing the National Anthem at many professional sporting events including the L.A.Dodgers and the Oakland Raiders.
When she was 16-years-old she won a youth talent contest at Washington County Fair in her hometown and a year later Keith Thomas from Levosia Entertainment signed her to a recording and management contract.
Her first single, released from three demo CDs was her own song "Goodbyes" which she wrote during mid-school graduation about her friend. It was on Radio Disney's countdown top 30 for 18 weeks and peaked at number 5. It still holds the record for the highest charted song by an unsigned artist.
As soon as she posted her first video on You Tube she had requests from viewers to post them regularly. She removed the cover songs temporarily from the web on March 17th 2009 due to copyright issues but they were returned a short time later.
On April 3rd 2009 the video of her second single "If You Only Knew" posted on You Tube, directed by Mason Dixon starred Disney's Tony Oller from "As the Bell Rings" and it gained two million viewers.
In December that year clothing she designed for "Pimp Girl" went on sale with profits going to a charity of her choice. She took part in a project for Zoovolution and narrated an audio book called "Fur Trade" and recorded a song to help raise awareness about cruelty to animals.
She describes herself as "an ordinary girl with dreams on her pocket" but there is nothing ordinary about her. She practically lives in an airport and on November 21st 2010 she was invited to sing at the American Music Awards pre-show at the Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles.
She says "Anything sparkly rocks her world" and her name used to be Von Houten, but somewhere along the line someone removed the Von and the H but she doesn't know why.
