Paris Hilton Biography

American socialite Paris Hilton is the 29-year-old great granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of the Hilton Hotel chain.

She epitomizes the title "famous for being famous" She has been called a "celebutante" a celebrity who rises to fame not for their talent or their work but, because of their wealth and controversial lifestyle. Her 2009 quote "Dress cute wherever you go, life is too short to blend in" has been added to the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.

In 2003 she attracted the attention of the media when she and her boyfriend at the time Rick Saloman appeared in a controversial sex video and she was voted 2nd Worst Celebrity Role Model in 2006 behind Britney Spears.

She has been a model and actress and she is also an author although some of the press panned her writing as amateurish.

She makes a habit of announcing her intention to marry various men but the weddings never seem to come off. She was engaged to fashion model Jason Shaw from mid 2002 to early 2003 and following their break-up she was in a relationship with singer Nick Carter for a year.

She then got engaged to Greek Shipping Magnate Paris Latsis from May 29th 2005 but the engagement only lasted six months. She started seeing shipping heir Stavros Niarchos but broke up with him in May 2006.

In early 2008 she dated Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden and when she was on the David Letterman Talk Show in May that year she announced she intended to marry him but they broke up six months later although she insists they have remained very close friends.

In February 2009 she was with actor Doug Reinhardt who starred in "The Hills" and announced they were to marry saying "He's gonna be my husband" but the relationship ended in June that year.

They got back together again but she left him on April 13th 2010 saying he was using her to further his career.

On January 15th 2007 Hilton was pulled over for drink driving and had her licence suspended but just over a month later she was caught doing 70 mph in a 35mph limit driving on a suspended licence. It was dark and she had no headlights on. After several legal wrangles and other driving offences she was sentenced to serve a prison term in Los Angeles County Jail.

She is at her happiest when she is with her small dogs of which she has 17. She is often seen carrying round her Yorkshire Terrier or her Chihuahua Tinkerbell which she takes to functions and social events.

She loves dressing her dogs up and she has designed a clothing range for small dogs called "Little Lily" these include dresses and jeans.

She published her tongue-in-cheek autobiography in 2004 and on August 28th 2010 she was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of possessing cocaine.
