Megan Fox Biography
The 26-year-old American actress from Oak Ride, Tennessee is a complex character. She is full of self-loathing and has a very low self-esteem. She says she is very vulnerable and admits to self-harming herself. But she can also be very aggressive, domineering and selfish and is a self-admitted control freak.
This aggressive streak may stem from her unhappy childhood. Her parents divorced when she was young and she was raised by her very strict mother and step-father. She was not allowed to have boyfriends, or invite friends to the house.
Her means of escape was to go to drama and dance classes from the age of 5-years-old at the Kingston Community Centre and she also sang with Kingston Elementary School Chorus and swam with the Clippers Team.
In Middle School she was bullied so much she ate her lunch in the bathroom to avoid being "pelted with ketchup packets". She got on better with the boys than the girls so she had no friends. She was hated at High School as well because the girls did not like her aggressive personality and she felt a total outcast.
She was desperate to make enough money to leave home and she began modelling at the age of 13 after winning several awards at the American Modelling and Talent Convention Hilton Head, Carolina. She made her acting debut in 2001 at the age of 16 playing the spoilt heiress Brianna Wallace in the film "Holiday in the Sun". This was only released on DVD, but it led to her being offered the lead role as Lone Starr in the American television series "Ocean Avenue" and she appeared in 122 one hour episodes.
Her first mainstream movie was "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" in 2004, opposite Lindsay Lohen, in which she played her rival Carla Sariti.
She has appeared on the covers of many magazines and was ranked 17 in Hollywood's "Stars of Tomorrow".
In 2009 her over-exposure in the media resulted in several men's websites boycotting her and AOL's men's blog "Asylum", deemed August 4th as "Don't Mention Megan Fox Day", promising not to mention her name for 24 hours. Other sites were urged to follow and several did.
In retaliation The Sun newspaper called August 4th "Megan Fox Day", saying she deserved a day dedicated to her.
Fox blamed the studio that produced her film "The Transformers" for her over-exposure, saying they were so keen to make $700 million, that they saturated the media with stories about the stars.
On September 11th 2009 an unsigned letter from crew members was released to the media, defending director Michael Bay against the complaints made by Fox that he behaved like Adolf Hitler on the set. The letter went on to say Fox was unpleasant to work with on the stages and her behaviour away from the public gaze was very different to the Megan Fox the public saw, Bay later defended her saying he had not authorised the letter.
She has eight tattoos, including her husband's name on her lower lip. The others include Marilyn Monroe's face on her right forearm and a crescent moon overlapping a 5-pointed star above her right ankle.
She met her husband, actor Brian Austin Green, on the set of "Hope and Glory" when she was 18 and he was 30 and they got together romantically in 2004. Fox and Green announced their engagement in 2006, but broke it off in February 2009.
Green said that Fox was overwhelmed by her new-found fame and the responsibility of helping him to raise his son from a previous relationship. All of a sudden they could not go anywhere without her being recognised and she began to have doubts about being ready to settle down.
The split lasted a year, but they got engaged again in June 2010 and got married shortly afterwards in a private ceremony at the Four Seasons restaurant on Big Island in Hawaii.
