Liz Hurley Biography
When you hear the name Liz Hurley, you immediately think of that dress. The Versace black dress with the plunging back and the gold safety pins which held it together shot the British model and actress into the limelight. She wore it to accompany her boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premiere of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" in Los Angeles.
Despite appearing in a number of films and television dramas, it is her relationships that she is known for. For 13 years she was not "Liz Hurley the model" but, "Liz Hurley, Hugh Grant's girlfriend." Now she has hit the headlines again after being photographed leaving a hotel with Australian cricketer Shane Warne. On December 12th 2010 the papers broke the news they had been seen kissing like honeymooners, but all Hurley would say is that she and her husband had split several months before. Warne flew back to Australia to be with his children, without commenting on their relationship which has branded them "The Odd Couple".
Born in Basingstoke, the daughter of an Irish father who was a Major in the British Army and an Anglican mother she was a struggling actress when she met Grant on the set of a Spanish film "Remando Al Viento" in 1987.
Liz Hurley stood by him when the media revealed he had solicited a prostitute in 1995 and she accompanied him to his Premiere of "9 months" but in May 2000 they announced an amicable split after 13 years together.
At the age of 29, with no modelling experience, Estee Lauder offered her a job and she remained with them for over 15 years. Her association with them led to her receiving a $100,000 fine in 2000 for breaking a five-month acting strike to film an Estee Lauder advertisement. The Screen Actors Guild imposed the fine which is approximately £70,000 and she was labelled "Elizabeth Scabley."
Following the break-up with Grant she had a brief relationship with actor Steve Bing and gave birth to their son Damien Charles Hurley on 4th April 2002. He denied paternity but, after a DNA test it was proved he is the father.
In late 2002 Hurley started dating Indian textile heir Arun Nayar and they married at Sudeley Castle on March 2nd 2007, followed by a lavish traditional Hindu wedding at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, India.
She was given away by Sir Elton John and former boyfriend Hugh Grant was a guest. The couple sold pictures of both weddings to "Hello" magazine for an alleged £2 million and they lived with her son on a 400 acre organic farm in Barnsley, Gloucestershire.
Hurley actively supports Estee Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign as her grandmother died of breast cancer and she also supported the Prince's Trust by co-presenting the 2003 Fashion Rocks event.
Other charities she has raised funds for are the "End Hunger Network ARK Children's Charity and the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.
