Kelly Brook Biography
Had former Page Three Girl Kelly Brook's father not died of throat cancer his daughter might have been happily married to Titanic star Billy Zane by now.
On the other hand their relationship was showing cracks before her father made his deathbed plea to his daughter to call off the wedding.
They were due to be married in a lavish ceremony at their Kent home in the summer of 2008 but when her father died in November 2007 she postponed the wedding.
She was appearing in "Strictly Come Dancing" at the time and was tipped to win the series. Zane was a familiar face in the audience as he came along to support her performances. She originally intended to carry on dancing in her father's memory but the strain got too much and she withdrew from the show in the ninth week.
Media reports revealed afterwards that her father asked her not to go through with the marriage before he died. He had never liked Zane and did not trust him and he made it clear the actor who played Kate Winslet's fiancé in "Titanic" was not welcome in the family home.
When her father was diagnosed with terminal throat cancer in 2006 Brook had offered to bring the wedding forward but, he wouldn't hear of it as he didn't want her to make the biggest mistake of her life. The couple had already begun to argue before her father died and it is believed his final plea made her take the final decision.
They split up in April 2008 and briefly re-united but in August that year they called it a day. He had to spend a lot of time in Los Angeles and she is mainly based in Britain.
Brook was born on 23rd November 1979 in Rochester in Kent, her mother was a cook and her father was a scaffolder. After attending Thomas Aveling School in Warren Wood she went to the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London for three years before she became a professional model.
She won a beauty competition at the age of 16 which her mother had put her in for and she took part in several advertising campaigns before someone spotted her from the Daily Star tabloid newspaper.
She was immediately snapped up as a Page Three Girl and she started appearing in the Lads Mags. In 2005 she topped FHMs 100 Sexiest Women in the World and in September 2010 she appeared in the American issue of Playboy Magazine.
The following year she introduced her own range of swimwear and lingerie at the New Look stores throughout Britain.
She started to diversify by carving out a career for herself in television, starting in 1997 when as an 18-year-old she presented Youth TV programmes. Her break-through came in 1999 when she was chosen to replace Denise van Outen as the female half the of Big Breakfast presentation team, alongside Johnny Vaughan.
In 2008 she replaced Jennifer Ellison as one of three judges in the TV reality programme, "Dirty Dancing - The Time of Your Life". She was delighted to be invited the following year to join the panel of "Britain's Got Talent" as a fourth judge but she was axed in less than a week. The producers said the four judge combination was causing complications but Kelly blamed her sacking on Ant and Dec. She said that she was asked to leave the show after she allegedly upset them.
She is now concentrating on her film and stage acting. In September 2008 she started dating rugby player Danny Cipriani and she was due to move to Australia with him but they split up in June 2010.
