Justin Timberlake Biography
He is a successful singer, actor and record producer with 6 Grammy Awards and 2 Emmy Awards to his name.
But Justin Timberlake will always be remembered as half of Hollywood's golden couple, when he dated his first love Britney Spears.
They met in the Mickey Mouse Club and he said it was love at first sight. "I was in love with her from the start, I was infatuated with her from the moment I saw her," he said.
Their relationship, which began in 1999 was very high profile and was carried out under the glaring spotlight of the press who fully expected them to get married, but the relationship ended abruptly in 2002.
The press speculated she had been unfaithful to him with a mutual friend, choreographer Wade Robson. They had known each other 10 years and the break-up affected both of them. She described it as "the most painful thing she had ever experienced as she had thought they would get married one day."
Timberlake said the hardest thing was the fact the girl he had loved half his life and who had been so close to him had been so disloyal. It was due to this disloyalty he wrote one of his greatest hit songs "Cry Me a River".
"I fought back and that's the way I did it, I used my mind and came up with the song," he said. "It is about a relationship going bad because the girl cheated on him and to get even the boy makes sure the girl finds out he's moved on with his life. The girl gets upset and 'cries a river' because she's screwed up and lost the boy she loves."
Since the break-up he has refused to talk about his private life although his subsequent relationship with Cameron Diaz soon hit the headlines. He was voted the "Sexiest Man" by Teen People and Cosmopolitan on February 17th 2009 and named "The Most Stylish Man in America" by GQ in May 2010.
He has had an on-off relationship with Jessica Biel since 2007 and he gets annoyed about the tabloid obsession with his latest romance.
"If you're not getting married then you must be breaking up," he said. "I grew up in the Bible Belt and collectively that's what America wants. Females where I grew up are taught to get married and raise babies. I just want to make it to my 30th birthday, I can barely take care of myself."
He may not be able to take care of himself, but as well as a successful singer he is a shrewd business man. He has his own record label and he co-owns three restaurants in America, Chi in Hollywood, Destino and Southern Hospitality in New York.
He has his own brand of Tequila 901, named after the area code in his home town and he owns a clothing range called William Rast with childhood friend Juan (Trace) Ayala. They have produced cord jackets, cashmere sweaters, jeans and polo shirts. He says the inspiration for the designs came from Elvis Presley. Timberlake is an avid golfer and plays off a 6 handicap. He has hosted the Las Vegas Tournament since 2008 when it changed its name to the Justin Timblerlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
He was also in "The Social Network" the film about the meaning of success in the early 21st century from the perspective of the technological innovators which is a recognisable way we all communicate. He plays social network founder Napster.
