Alyson Michalka Biography

Alyson Michalka rose to fame for her portrayal as Marti Perkins in CW TV's cheerleading drama series "Hellcats" which was premiered on 8th September 2010. But she has been acting since she was 5-years-old back home in America and she also learnt to play the piano at the age of 5.

Her mother Carrie is a musician who performed with the Christian JC Band. Michalka was raised as a Christian and continues to practise her faith.

She very close to her younger sister Amanda Joy and they formed a duo together formerly called Aly and AJ, but now called 78Violet. They sing together and she writes music and lyrics as well. They appeared on the television programme "This Morning" singing "Potential Break-up" and they tried to win a fashion competition.

In 2005 they performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade at Herald Square in New York City. Two years later they each received a puppy for their birthdays, Michalka named hers Roadie and she also has another dog called Bandit.

Not only is she a talented songstress, she is very artistic. When she was 10-years-old she won a contest to design a Christmas card and her talent was recognised by Hallmark Cards. They gave her a framed copy of her picture of angels. She is interested in sewing and fashion and plans to design her own clothing line.

She and Amanda still live with their parents in Los Angeles when they are not on tour and she cannot start her day without eating bacon. She never bothers about her weight because she exercises five days a week. She keeps fit by kick-boxing and biking.

She says she is too busy to have a boyfriend but, she is still friends with former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart who she dated when she was 18-years-old. He is six years older than her and her parents were pleased when they split. Michalka still supports Cardinals and used to cheer Leinart on after their relationship ended.

Michalka is also very sporting, she loves horses and takes part in hunter-jumping equestrian sports as well as playing volleyball, swims, does rock climbing and mountain biking.

Alyson Michalka and Amana are co-chairs of the Children's Advisory Board for the Amber Watch Foundation. She is ranked number 26 in AIM's 100 best celebrities under 25.
